Online + Hands-on Medical Assistant Program
Program Overview
The AUMT Medical Assistant Program is designed to efficiently prepare students for a career as a Medical Assistant. This accelerated training program equips students to sit for the Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification exam offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Our program combines comprehensive classroom instruction with hands-on externship experiences.
Role of a Medical Assistant
Medical Assistants play a crucial role in healthcare settings, assisting doctors with both administrative and clinical tasks. Their responsibilities include:
Administrative Duties:

Answering telephones

Scheduling appointments

Bookkeeping and filing

Completing insurance forms and basic billing
Clinical Duties:

Taking vital signs
-
Administering injections and medications
-
Drawing blood and performing basic lab tests

Assisting with minor surgeries

Positioning patients for examination
Our curriculum covers both the administrative functions of a medical office and the anatomy andphysiology of body systems. Instruction includes theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on training.
Program Structure
The program consists of didactic lectures and laboratory instruction, followed by an externship to ensure practical experience.
Didactic Lecture:

Externship:

160 hours of practical, real-world experience in a medical setting.

Required upon successful completion of the didactic portion.
